Elkdale C.C. Junior Golf Program 2007
The Elkdale junior golf program for the 2007 season will begin Friday, July 6, and conclude on Friday, August 24 (Note: we will skip Friday July 20th because of the Member Guest Tournament). The program consists of a series of seven half hour lessons and up to 9 holes of golf on a shortened regulation course after each lesson. All skill levels will be taken through a learning progression, beginning with putting, chipping, pitching up to the full swing. Proper golf course etiquette and rules of the game will be taught as part of the seven week program. Groups will be separated by skill level. Beginners start by playing a 3 hole chipping and putting course, and will progress to a 4 hole short course on up to a 9 hole regulation course. Juniors advance through the levels by scoring at or better than a target score. The program is directed and taught by PGA Professional Jack Widger along with USGTF certified teacher Dave Elsen and other guest instructors.
ELIGIBILITY: Interested, enthusiastic, kids and teenagers age 7 through17 who reside in the Salamanca, Little Valley, Ellicottville & Great Valley area. (17 year olds must be under 18 years of age in September 2007). Participants DO NOT HAVE TO BE MEMBERS OF ELKDALE COUNTRY CLUB.
REGISTRATION:Limited to the first 20 golfers in each of the three ability groups
(GROUP 1. Beginner group three hole putting and chipping course / GROUP 2. Four hole short course / GROUP 3. Nine hole group)

NOTE: IF YOU MISS YOUR LESSON OR TEE TIME, YOU MAY PLAY ALONG WITH THE NEXT GROUP, PROVIDING THERE IS A PLACE FOR YOU IN A FOURSOME. ALL JUNIOR SCORES SHOULD BE TURNED INTO THE GOLF SHOP WHEN PLAY IS COMPLETED.
ATTENTION PARENTS AND JUNIORS: The success of this program depends upon parental participation and both parental and juniors cooperation. Volunteers to serve on the Junior Golf committee are welcomed.
1. A parent is expected to assist a minimum of one Friday per child enrolled. You will be a walker with one of the Jr. groups to help keep score, teach etiquette, interpret rules and keep things moving. Note on your childs registration form the dates and times you are available to help.
2. Please encourage your child to practice. Review the rules of golf and etiquette with him/her. Any misconduct may result in immediate disqualification.
3. Jr. golfers must have their own equipment. The teaching staff will be checking all participants equipment in the first few lessons for proper fit.
4. PROPER ATTIRE IS MANDATORY Proper dress is Bermuda length shorts, and a shirt with sleeves and a collar. EXAMPLES OF UNACCEPTABLE ATTIRE: TEE SHIRTS, MUSCLE SHIRTS, JEANS, CUT-OFF JEANS, TENNIS SHORTS, JAMS, OVERSIZED SHIRTS, ETC.
5. Every player must be on time for the lesson and ready to tee-off at the appointed time. Parents please impress upon your child the importance of being on time.
NOTE TO ADULT ELKDALE GOLFERS AND MEMBERS:
The practice areas and putting green WILL BE CLOSEDto all adults until 10:00 A.M. on Junior Golf Fridays. MEMBERS ARE ASKED TO AVOID PLAY ON THE BACK NINE JUNIOR GOLF MORNINGS UNTIL THE YOUNG 4 HOLE GROUP HAS COMPLETED THEIR ROUND. This season junior golf occurs one morning a week for 7 weeks. Friday, July 6th through Friday, August 24th. We ask your cooperation and expect you treat the Junior Golfers with the courtesy and respect you expect from them.

Beginners will play a three hole course set up on our short game practice area. The four hole group will play on the regulation course from tee markers placed 50 to 150 yards from the green. The nine hole short course group will play on the regulation course with tee markers 100 to 300 yards from the green. The nine hole regulation group will play from the forward red tee marker.
